Thankful Tuesday on Thursday

Sorry I am late, but you know, what can you do? Here are a few things that I am thankful for today.

1. I HAVE A NEW JOB! I am the new Family and Consumer Science teacher at MacAthur Jr. High. I know that most of you are thinking...jr. high? But I would much rather be with jr. high kids than 3rd graders! All I need is a few air freshers and I am good!

2. The church playground. The boys and I went to the playground today with our good friends Carolyn, Wesley, and Samuel. What good times, and what a great playground!

3. My mama bird on our front porch has laid more eggs and they are hatching today! She has already had 2 babies this year and is now on her second batch. I think that she "gets around".

4. The elders at church. I took Jake to see them last night and they all laid hands on him and prayed for him. His big yearly allergy appointment at AR Children's Hospital is next Wed. and they always want me to bring him in so that they can pray over him. I asked Jake last night why he thought that the elders did that for him and he said "because they love me." Praise the Lord that my children have so many Holy men that pray for them!

5. Because I am getting a full time job this fall, I get to have a house cleaner!!! Yippee! Is it bad to go back to work just so that I can get someone to clean my house?

6. Have I told you lately how much I truly love my new chaco's?

7. My new calendar organization area. I was having a small panic attack yesterday, because I felt so out of control with our schedule, so I headed to Office Max. I bought 3 dry erase calendars so that I could have the whole summer laid out in front of me. It makes me so happy to look at it!


8. I get to go to the late movie tomorrow night with the Ladies! I won't tell you what movie I am seeing because it has a dirty word in the title, but I bet you can guess!

9. My mom is coming on Saturday for a week! The boys are always so happy when she is here and it is so nice to have a mom break for a few days!

10. SUMMER! I still have to work, but it is so nice to not have to get the boys up and ready for school every day. They both stink so bad right now, but it is ok because we have no where to go. Nothing like the smell of stinky sweaty boys covered in sunscreen!

More Graduation Pictures

This is a picture of Jake, Isaac, and Mrs. Horton on the last day of school. I wasn't going to send Jake on the last day, but when he heard that Mrs. Horton was going to be there, he wanted to go! Mrs. Horton had to miss the last few weeks of school because she had Baby Lily. We are so thankful that everyone is alright now and that she is back home. Mrs. Horton has been an answer to so many prayers this year! Isaac even loves her!

This next picture is the funniest picture of the year! I had told Jake that he didn't have to take the graduation picture at school because I wasn't going to buy one, but when he got to school he found out that everyone had to take it. As you can see, he was NOT happy about it! I had to buy it because it was so funny! He is going to be so happy with me when I put this in his Senior Slide show at church!

My Jakers has officially completed Kindergarten! We attended his kindergarten picnic and graduation this afternoon. Jake also received the Student of the Month award for the month of January. He was so pumped! He put both hands in the air and said "YES!".

I can't beleive that this year is already over. What a blessing Mrs. Horton and the Kindergarten Center have been! I could not have asked for a better experience for Jake's first year of school.

Thankful Tuesday

I love Thankful Tuesday's! Today I am going to list the boys top 10 books that they are thankful for. They each get to pick one book to read every night before bed.

1. Our newest obsession: Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

2. Love You Forever. Chris is the only one that can read this one because it makes me cry.

3. Hop On Pop. This has been a favorite for years now. Especially Jake.

4. Mia Hamm - Winners Never Quit. A great little book about being a good loser.

5. Earl The Squirrel. Love little Earl!

6. The Kiwi that was Scared of the Dark. Ray and Meta Winters brought the boys this book from New Zealand. It is a favorite there. We all have this one memorized.

7. Go, Dog. Go! We don't have to read this one now. Jake can read it to us. He learned to read on this book.

8. Bugs are Insects. We love the non-fiction books around here. This one is about the difference between insects, spiders, and bugs. Very interesting!

9. How do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food? How do Dinosaurs Go to School, How do Dinosaurs Go to the Doctor, etc... We have this whole series of books and love every one of them!

10. And finally the most important and most favorite of all..... The Rhyme Bible. What would we do without the Rhyme Bible. It is whole family favorite. It even goes on vacation with us. Jake's favorite story is Jesus dying on the cross. Isaac's is Jonah. At the end of every page in the Jonah story it says: "Uh-oh Jonah, You should've gone to Ninevah!" Isaac is in charge of saying that line! I think he just likes the word Ninevah!

Isaac's Last Day

Friday was Isaac's last day of St. Marks Day School. I can't express to you what a blessing St. Mark's has been to our family over the last 3 years. It was an answer to many prayers. I wanted Jake to go to preschool when he turned 3, but it was a hard decision for me because of all of his food allergies. We went and looked at lots of different schools, but as soon as I walked in St. Mark's I felt completely at ease. Jake spent 2 wonderful years there and Isaac has spent 3. We are sad that Isaac isn't going to be able to go there next year, but due to my work schedule, we are going to put Isaac into the Jonesboro Pre-K center. We are equally excited about the pre-k center, but sad that our St. Mark's years are over. Thank you St. Mark's for loving my boys, taking such good care of them, and for teaching them so much!

T-ball

Thought I would post a few pictures of Jake playing t-ball. This is his first year and Chris' first year to be the assistant coach. It has been great and so laid back. We are playing at the YMCA. I would definitely recommend it!





This picture is from Monday night. Our young married bible class came out and cooked for all of the teams playing that night. Will, Jake and Isaac had a great time playing and even handed out a few WOW fliers.

Isaac!!!!

My sweet, sweet 3 year old Isaac came wandering into the computer room last night with a "boo-boo" on his finger. Chris and I were just sitting looking at something on the computer. When I turned around this is what I saw. I think I fell out of my chair laughing so hard. I don't think I have laughed that hard in a very long time. There was lack of breathing and lots of tears! I was laughing so hard that Chris had to take the picture.
We had to put a band-aid on it and then he continued to hold it up for the rest of the night to make sure that it wouldn't get hurt. One day when I am not laughing I will teach him why we don't use that finger!

Thankful Tuesday

I think that today's list is going to be the random things that make my life a little happier.

1. The ice maker in the door of my refrigerator. I love that thing. I am so thankful that I don't have to fill up ice trays and empty them. I remember that being my dad's job when I was a kid.

2. The automatic door unlock thing on my key chain. I love being able to unlock the door before I actually get to the car.

3. Funny church signs. You know the one's that put "ch..ch". What is missing? U R! Ha! I love reading those things. Always brings a smile to my face!

4. Diet Coke fridge packs. I hated having to unload the diet coke into the refrigerator. Now I just put the whole box in there! Amazing!

5. Bath puffs with all the different kinds of liquid soap. That makes my shower so happy.

6. Velcro. I don't think that my boys will ever learn to tie their shoes. Why learn when you have velcro!?

7. Bath and Body hand soap. I love to wash my hands. I have a different flavor at every sink. You never know what you are going to get! My little guilt pleasure.

8. Down Comforters. I love our bedding. Not the prettiest stuff in the world, but it is the best to get into at night.

9. Cordless phones. I like to walk when I talk. Do you remember back in the day, when we had to stay in place to talk? I had a very cool see-through phone in my room. Very cool!

10. Fabric softener. I don't like doing laundry, but fabric softener does help. Our laundry room usually smells like stinky wet dog except when I do laundry!

Thankful Tuesday

It is Thankful Tuesday! One of my favorite days of the week! Today I thought I would list 10 things that Jake and Isaac would write on their thankful lists.

Things that Jake is thankful for:

1. Cyberchase - a pbs show that comes on at 3pm. We race home everyday after school so he can watch it

2. His big blue bed. For some reason he loves his bed. He never wants to sleep anywhere else or let anyone else sleep in his bed. Except Gigi!

3. The Wii. He loves the wii!

4. Wesley. What would we do without Wesley!?

5. Zaxby's. Jake loves zaxby's. If given the choice where to eat, it would always be zaxby's. That is were all "guys nights out" take place.

6. Jake loves school. My prayer all year has been that he would have a great first experience with school and learn to love school and learning. God has answered my prayers!

7. Jake's favorite outfit! His black athletic "swishy" pants, his gray Lipscomb t-shirt, his black ASU Indians hat turned around backwards, and his red hooded sweatshirt tied around his waist. Crazy kid!

8. Webkins. Jake got a webkins snake from the Easter bunny. It is our new computer obsession.

9. Jake's favorite foods: soy yogurt, dino chicken, pop-tarts, bananas, special rolls that I make him, graham crackers with icing in the middle-then frozen, strawberries, blueberries.

10. And the most important one of all....Isaac! Jake loves Isaac. They are an inseparable team. They wake up playing, get home from school playing, and go to bed playing.

10 Things that Isaac is thankful for:

1. His dino's. He couldn't sleep without them.

2. His favorite little friends at school. Tennyson, Will and Colby. They like to play Star Wars. Isaac has no idea what that is!

3. Space Jam and Toy Story 2. Isaac's favorite movies!

4. Basketball. He is actually really good!

5. Favorite food: fruit snacks, bananas, grapes, pineapple, baked potato, mac and cheese, apple sauce.

6. Baths. He could stay in there for hours. Sometimes he does!!

7. Isaac loves to be held! Holdja me mama!

8. Croc's.

9. Samuel. We love us some Samuel!

10. And the most important of all...Jake. Isaac lives and breathes Jake. He is happy when he is with him and sad when he isn't.

Chris is 31!

Chris turns 31 on May 11. Yes, I am 10 days older than him. An older woman! We are going to be in Nashville next weekend, so I thought I would go ahead and post about him today. Since I have gotten really good at lists lately, I think I will write 31 things that I love about Chris.

1. He is really funny!

2. He is just soooo cute!

3. I love his gray hair!

4. I love all of his freckles on his arms.

5. He reads to the boys every night before bed.

6. I love that he isn't afraid to try new things.

7. I love that he loves to read his Bible.

8. I love when he wrestles with the boys.

9. I love that he is a minister.

10. I love that he has a crazy big work ethic.

11. He vacuums! You have to love that!

12. He smells good.

13. I love that he started balancing the checkbook and paying bills!

14. I love that he picks out clothes for me.

15. I love that he asks for advice.

16. I love that he can get along with people that are 13 and with people that are 73.

17. I love that he calls and texts me all throughout the day.

18. He loves God more than he loves me.

19. I love that he is always singing. He has a song in his heart!

20. He makes me laugh all of the time!

21. I love that he knows me so well.

22. I love that he is the spiritual leader in our family.

23. I love that he can just give the boys a "look" and they start behaving.

24. He is such a great dad, even though he doesn't think he is.

25. I love that he is the assistant t-ball coach for Jake's team.

26. I love that he goes to read to Jake's class every Wednesday.

27. I love that he does "guys night out" with Jake and Isaac. It makes them feel so special.

28. I love that the teenagers love him.

29. I love that he is constantly wanting learn and trying to be better.

30. He is a great friend.

31. I love Chris because he is the love of my life.

Today I am 31 years old. That sounds so old. I don't feel that old. Surely I am not that old. Surely I am not old enough to be married with 2 children.

Today I am going to make a list of 31 things that I want to accomplish in the next 31 years. Here goes....

1. Have a tan.

2. Have no acne.

3. Go on a cruise.

4. Wear a very small bikini on my cruise.

5. Have a car that is not a mini-van. Preferably a hybrid car.

6. Have solar panels on my house.

7. Build a house.

8. Have my teeth whitened.

9. Go to Disney World.

10. Did I mention getting a tan?

11. Decide what I want to be when I grow up and actually do it.

12. Be able to afford to have manicures and pedicures weekly.

13. Have a Goldendoddle. Half golden retriever, half poodle.

14. Raise Jake and Isaac to love God more than anyone else.

15. Adopt a child.

16. Grow flowers in my yard and remember to water them.

17. Eat fruit.

18. Win the lottery or the HGTV dream home.

19. Teach the boys to love people that don't look like them, talk like them, or act like them.

20. Not only to love them, but not be scared of them.

21. Go on a Holy Lands trip.

22. To become "crafty".

23. Get a tan!

24. To have the house that all of the boys friends want to hang out at.

25. To be a good looking grandma.

26. To invent the cure for food allergies.

27. Run a 5k.

28. Have those fancy front-loading washer and dryers.

29. Go on a mission trip that I am not one of the chaperone's.

30. To be a good mother-in-law.

31. Have a tan!
